Somtimes yorkie puppies are being sold through non reputable internet sites, puppy brokers, and puppy mills. People who buy from these types of places do not know the condition of the yorkie puppy when they buy it, where it came from and how it was taken care of.

When breeders advertise their yorkies for sale as Teacup Yorkies or Miniature Yorkies, they are not reputable breeders.  There is no such thing as a Teacup Yorkie or Miniature Yorkie in the Yorkshire Terrier breed. These types of breeders are only breeding to sell puppies and are not breeding to the AKC breed standard. By doing this they are breeding very small yorkie females and putting their life in danger. When you get this type of a small yorkie puppy you get more potential health problems.

It is possible for reputable breeders to get small yorkies or tiny yorkies, which some people call teacup yorkies or miniature yorkies.  We have no control over size. We are careful and plan our breedings to the best of our knowledge but once in awhile we will produce a small yorkie even though we breed a 5 - 7 pound female. You will notice that theses breeders do not call their puppy a teacup nor miniature.  It is just a smaller yorkie.

People that are on a limited income will take a chance and buy a yorkie puppy from yorkie breeders that are advertising yorkie puppies in the newspaper or on some of these internet sites. I would suggest, save your money and buy a yorkie puppy from a reputable breeder.
